Medical Appliances

The reasonable and customary charges for the rental or purchase (which ever is less) of a hospital bed, wheelchair, brace, crutch or other medical appliance.

Health professional services

Up to $300 for professionals such as licensed chiropractor, osteopath, physiotherapist, chiropodist or podiatrist.

Return of deceased/Cremation or burial

In case of death, coverage is as follows

  • Cost for the transportation of your body to your home and up to $3,000 for the preparation of your body and the cost of the container or
  • The transportation of your ashes back to your home, plus up to $3,000 to have your body cremated where you die or
  • Up to $3,000 for the preparation of your body and the cost of a standard burial of your body where you die.

Transportation to bedside

In case of hospitalization for 3 or more days, insurance will cover 

  • Expenses to bring someone to your bedside plus $300 for that person’s hotel and meals.
  • That person will also be insured under the same policy’s terms and conditions as yours. 

Out-of-pocket expenses

When you or your companion on insurance is hospitalized and it prevents you and your companion to return home as originally planned then insurance will provide $150 per day (up to max $1,500) for meals, hotel, phone calls and taxi.

Automatic extensions

Coverage is automatically extended if:

  • If your common carrier is delayed, we will extend your coverage for up to 72 hours.
  • If you or your travel companion have an emergency that prevents travel but does not require hospitalization, we will extend your coverage for up to 5 days.
  • If you or your travel companion are hospitalized on your return date, we will extend coverage during hospitalization up to a maximum of 365 days and for up to 5 days after hospital discharge.

Policy cancellation/ Refund

You have 10 days from your insurance purchase date to review this policy. If it does not meet your needs, you may terminate this insurance coverage and receive a premium refund if:
  • you have not departed on your trip; and

  • The transportation of your ashes back to your home, plus up to $3,000 to have your body cremated where you die or
  • Up to $3,000 for the preparation of your body and the cost of a standard burial of your body where you die.

Transportation to bedside

In case of hospitalization for 3 or more days, insurance will cover 

  • Expenses to bring someone to your bedside plus $300 for that person’s hotel and meals.
  • That person will also be insured under the same policy’s terms and conditions as yours. 

Out-of-pocket expenses

When you or your companion on insurance is hospitalized and it prevents you and your companion to return home as originally planned then insurance will provide $300 per day (up to max $3,000) for meals, hotel, phone calls and taxi.

Automatic extensions

Coverage is automatically extended if:

  • If your common carrier is delayed, we will extend your coverage for up to 72 hours.
  • If you or your travel companion have an emergency that prevents travel but does not require hospitalization, we will extend your coverage for up to 5 days.
  • If you or your travel companion are hospitalized on your return date, we will extend coverage during hospitalization up to a maximum of 365 days and for up to 5 days after hospital discharge.

Policy cancellation/ Refund

You have 10 days from your insurance purchase date to review this policy. If it does not meet your needs, you may terminate this insurance coverage and receive a premium refund if:
  • you have not departed on your trip; and
  • there is no claim in progress
