GMS Visitor to Canada Plan Benefits

Benefit Details
In-hospital Care Hospital accommodations are covered up to semi-private rooms, along with the hospital services and supplies required for the treatment of a medical emergency during hospitalization. Follow-up visits are also covered when deemed medically necessary, until the medical emergency is considered resolved, as determined by GMS.
Medical Services Medical treatment provided by a physician or surgeon.
Diagnostic Services X-rays and other diagnostic tests are covered, except for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) scans, sonograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies, which are excluded unless pre-authorized by GMS.
Out-Patient Treatment Out-patient medical emergency room expenses.
Prescription Medication Drugs and medications prescribed by the attending physician and dispensed by a licensed pharmacist are covered, up to a maximum of a 30-day supply. However, refills of prescriptions and any related physician’s fees are not covered.
Ambulance Expenses for the use of a licensed road or air ambulance in a medical emergency requiring immediate transport to the nearest hospital with adequate facilities are covered.
Health Practitioners Expenses for emergency services provided by an osteopath, optometrist, physiotherapist, chiropractor, chiropodist, and/or podiatrist are covered, up to a maximum of $500 per person.
Accidental Dental Up to $2,000 per person. Dental pain up to $300.
Return of Remains *In the event of death resulting from a covered medical emergency, expenses for the preparation or transportation of the deceased to their destination in Canada or their country of origin are covered, up to a maximum of $10,000 per person. Alternatively, expenses for cremation or burial at the place of death are covered, up to a maximum of $4,000.
Child Care *Payment up to $500, with prior GMS approval for kids who are travelling with you
