Three plans (1) Basic, (2) Standard and (3) Enhanced are offered with a range of coverages from $15,000 to $200,000 and monthly payment option with $100,000 or more coverage for one year. Enhanced plan provides coverage for pre existing medical conditions stable in 180 days prior insurance start date.

Side trip coverage

Covers side trips for up to 30 days or less in duration outside of Canada for the trips that 

  • originate and terminate in Canada
  • are not greater than 50% of your period of coverage. 

Expenses incurred in your country of origin are not covered.

Out-of-pocket expenses

  • Up to $150 per day to a maximum of $1,000, for accommodations, meals, necessary telephone calls and taxi or bus fares incurred by an accompanying family member in the event of emergency
  • In the event of your hospitalization: Covers up to $500 for childcare for the children accompanying you on your trip.

Automatic extensions

  • For the duration of your hospitalization and 72-hour period following discharge from the hospital.
  • Arrive in your country of origin within 48 hours.

Policy cancellation/ Refund

  • Policy can be cancelled with full refund within 10 days of purchase provided that policy starts after 10 days of purchase date.

Side trip coverage

Travel Worldwide 

Travel worldwide is covered as long as the majority of the period of coverage is spent in Canada. The insured must have travelled to Canada first before they can be covered for side-trips outside of Canada .

Travel in Home Country 

Visits to home country are permitted; the Policy will not terminate but expenses will not be covered

Out-of-pocket expenses

In case of hospitalization it covers:

  • Up to $500 per day to a maximum of $5,000 commercial accommodation, meals, telephone calls, internet charges, taxi fare, parking charges, bus fare, rental car services
  • Up to $500 per day to a maximum of $5,000 for child care costs for the insured children accompanying you on the trip.

Automatic extensions

Coverage will be automatically extended in any of the following event

  • Hospitalization: During your stay in hospital plus 7 days after release from hospital

In case of hospitalization related to medical emergency this policy provides the following coverage to bring someone to your bedside:

  • Up to a maximum of $3,000 for round trip economy air fare
  • Up to a maximum of $1,000 for commercial accommodation, meals, essential telephone calls, taxi fare.

Side trip coverage

Costs incurred outside of Canada other than in your country of origin are covered provided the majority of the period of coverage is spent in Canada.

Out-of-pocket expenses

In case of hospitalization it covers $150 per day to a maximum of $1,500, or up to a maximum of 10 days for commercial accommodation and meals, child care costs for children accompanying you, essential telephone calls, taxi fares.

Automatic extensions

Coverage will be automatically extended in any of the following event:

  • Delay of conveyance: up to 72 hours
  • Hospitalization: the period of hospital confinement, plus 72 hours after release to travel home
  • Medically unfit to travel: Up to 5 days

Policy cancellation/ Refund

  • A full refund will be provided for policies which are returned within 10 days of purchase.
  • There will be no refund of premium if a claim has been made. 

Waiting period

48-hours waiting period applies if you purchase your policy: 

  • after the expiry date of an existing Allianz Global Assistance administered policy
  • after you exit your country of origin.
