Tugo Insurance Plans

Tugo Insurance offers medical coverage for visitors to Canada, super visa, work visa, international students, new immigrants and returning Canadians. Tugo plan provides coverage for stable pre-existing medical conditions. It also provides insurance for unstable pre-existing medical conditions which requires applicant to be stable as low as 7 days. Following are the key benefits of choosing Tugo insurance plan:

  • Choose coverage from options ranging from $10,000 to $500,000. However for super visa insurance coverage starts from $100,000.
  • Diverse range of deductibles, from as minimum as $0 to maximum $10,000. Flexibility in choosing the deductible can offer significant reductions in your premiums

  • Diverse range of deductibles, from as minimum as $0 to maximum $3,000. Flexibility in choosing the deductible can offer significant reductions in your premiums.
  • Insurance plan available for all ages.
  • 100% refund in case of visa denial. Visa denail letter is required before the insurance start state to process refund.
  • Early return refund available

Pre-existing conditions coverage

  • 59 years and under - Covers if stable in 90 days before the effective date of the policy
  • 60 to 69 years - Covers if stable in 120 days before the effective date of the policy
  • 70 to 85 years - Covers if stable in 180 days before the effective date of the policy
  • 86 years and over - Covers if stable in 365 days before the effective date of the policy
  • Unstable Pre-existing Medical Condition Coverage - For ages 79 and under Tugo also offers coverage up to the sum insured selected for unstable pre-existing medical conditions.*

  • * Pre-existing medical conditions must have been stable on or within the 7 days before the effective date of the policy. In order to buy coverage for unstable pre-existing medical conditions select 7 days stability period option

Medical questionnaire required?

Yes - Only 60 years and older needs to complete medical questionnaire

Hospital accommodation

Semi-private room 

Prescription drugs

Up to a 30-day supply following an emergency during the trip

Follow-up visits

Up to 5 follow-up visits within 14 days of the initial emergency medical treatment

Private duty nurse

Covers up to sum insured if required as a result of medical emergency

Ground or air transportation

Up to the sum insured for ground, air or sea ambulance (including paramedics) or taxi in lieu

Dental coverage

  • Up to $6,000 for dental accidents during the trip 
  • Up to $600 for dental pain

Laboratory tests & diagnostic services

Lab tests and x-rays when related to the medical emergency.

Medical Appliances

Covers rental or purchase of essential medical appliances up to the sum insured.

Health professional services

Up to $600 for any one incident per practitioner for licensed Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Chiropodists, Osteopaths, Podiatrists, Optometrists, Acupuncturists

Accidental death & dismemberment

This plan does NOT cover Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D). However, you can purchase AD&D coverage separately by calling us at 647-350-0332. When AD&D coverage is purchased separately, it covers the following:
  • Up to $25,000 24-hour accident insurance coverage
  • Up to $10,000 Air Flight/Common Carrier

Return of deceased/ Cremation or burial

  • Up to the sum insured for preparation and return of the body
  • Up to $6,000 for burial or cremation at the place of death
  • Transportation costs and insurance coverage for one family member to identify the body, and up to $400 per day to a maximum of $2,000 for their meals and accommodation 

Transportation to bedside

When an insured traveller is hospitalized, this benefit includes: 

  • A round trip economy airfare or ground transportation costs for a family member to be at their bedside
  • Up to $400 per day to a maximum of $2,000 for out-of-pocket expenses

Side trip coverage

Travel Worldwide 

Travel worldwide is covered as long as the majority of the period of coverage is spent in Canada. The insured must have travelled to Canada first before they can be covered for side-trips outside of Canada .

Travel in Home Country 

Visits to home country are permitted; the Policy will not terminate but expenses will not be covered

Out-of-pocket expenses

In case of hospitalization it covers:

  • Up to $500 per day to a maximum of $5,000 commercial accommodation, meals, telephone calls, internet charges, taxi fare, parking charges, bus fare, rental car services
  • Up to $500 per day to a maximum of $5,000 for child care costs for the insured children accompanying you on the trip.

Automatic extensions

Coverage will be automatically extended in any of the following event

  • Hospitalization: During your stay in hospital plus 7 days after release from hospital
  • Medically unfit to travel: Up to 7 days
  • Common carrier delay: Up to 7 days

Policy cancellation/ Refund

  • Policy cancellation with full refund is available up to the insurance start date.
  • Policy cancellation after the arrival date is subject to terms and conditions given in the policy document.

Waiting period

Waiting period applies if you purchased policy before arrival in Canada

  • 48-hour waiting period on disease or illness if the policy is purchased within 60 days after arrival in Canada 
  • 7-day waiting period on sickness if policy is purchased 61 days or more after arrival in Canada
